Section Descriptions

Business as Mission includes articles that explore the positive impacts that business has on reducing poverty by (1) creating shared values between individuals, families, communities, public and private institutions; and (2) promoting collaboration among and between profit and not for profit entities.  It also examines how the values of honesty, integrity, and generosity drive business success and shape business as Christian vocation.

Children, Adolescents, and Families includes articles that focus on Christian theology and practices related to ministry with and formation of children and adolescents in different contexts such as home, school, church, with families, or in communities.

Community Ministry and Development includes articles that address the role of congregations and ministry organizations in alleviating marginalization and oppression and includes a focus on the issues of hunger, homelessness, housing, and poverty.

Congregational Assessment includes articles that will aid in the study of congregations, the religious landscape in the United States, and trends in congregational life.  Each article will contain implications for planning and church leadership.

Global Missions includes articles on a range of topics and issues (such as contextualization, immigration, global Christianity) that will assist the church with service and witness beyond its borders and around the world.

Grief and Mourning includes articles that address contemporary and historical issues related to loss across the lifespan, theoretical and practical responses, and congregational models and potential.

Healthy Congregations includes articles that focus on best practices leading to and sustaining congregational spirituality, relational vitality, and safe congregations.

Marriage includes articles related to pre-marital education, marriage enrichment, the role of faith groups in supporting healthy marriages, and the impact of spirituality on the marriage relationship.

Mental Health includes articles that address the relationship between those struggling with mental health related issues and the local church, ministry and developmental disabilities, substance abuse/dependence, and pastoral care and guidance with the mentally ill.

Multicultural Congregations includes articles that consider leadership, worship, organizational structure, and identity within specific congregations and across the developing landscape of multicultural congregations in the U.S.

Physical Health and Wellness includes articles that discuss the role of local congregations in the promotion of holistic health and wellness within families and communities.

Practicing Faith includes articles that address the theology and processes of forming faith through practices within families, communities, and congregations.

50+ Adult Ministries includes articles related to faith and faith practices of persons in this stage of life; effective ministries for, by, and with this age group; family strengths and issues; and collaborative congregational-community relationships benefitting this age group.
